Residency & language
We require our franchisees to hold New Zealand residency & demonstrate a competent level of English literacy.

There will be a significant investment required – at least 50-60% of the cost of the bakery.
Training programme
You will need to be able to commit to 16 weeks without pay so you can undertake the full-time Bakers Delight training program to learn all the skills you need.
FAQ’S ABOUT A BAKERS DELIGHT FRANCHISE
Why should I join a Franchise and not just do it myself?
Not only do we have a proven formula and a load of experience at running a successful franchise system, we also have all the recipes and products that we know customers want, along with a strong brand that customers know and trust. We also have large buying agreements with key suppliers and partners that allows our Franchisees to the best pricing for the raw ingredients that go into our meals.
Do I need to be a qualified baker to own a Franchise?
No, whilst we have Franchisees within our network who are qualified Bakers, this is not a requirement to become a Franchisee with us. Our Franchisees have come from all works of life, from tradespeople or a corporate background, they have made the transition to small business owners.
How much does a Bakers Delight franchise cost?
The cost of setting up a bakery depends on its size, equipment, and professional fees. The average cost will be between $400,000 and $600,000 plus working capital.
How much royalty do I expect to pay?
Our royalty fee is 7% plus GST of Net Sales and our national advertising contribution fee is 2% plus GST of Net Sales payable weekly.
To build sales of Bakers Delight, how much should a franchisee contribute to local store marketing?
In addition to the national marketing contribution, franchisees are advised to spend a minimum of 2% of Net Sales on local marketing. You’ll build community engagement in your local area by doing this. The support office can provide tools and ready-to-go kits for your events.
Can I invest in a Bakers Delight and run it under management?
Franchising is essentially an owner operator business, however if an investor has a partner who is prepared to share some of the financial risk in setting up a Bakers Delight franchise, we will consider this on a case by case basis.
What is the minimum cash unencumbered amount I must have to be considered for a franchise?
Bakers Delight is a 50 – 60% bank accredited business model (circumstances may apply).
How long is the training?
The full-time Bakers Delight training programme is 16 weeks unpaid and you will need to be able to commit to this to take on a franchise.
What are the expected returns from owning a Bakers Delight franchise?
Average bakery sales over a 12 month period are $750K+ and we will discuss this in more detail in the enquiry process.
How long does the franchise agreement last?
We offer a 10-year franchise tenure and the opportunity for multi-site ownership.
