Bakers Delight loves giving back to the community. Franchisees across Australia and New Zealand went into Finger Bun overdrive during May 2018 to support several worthy charities as part of our community program.
Bakeries across Australia turned pink to support the 14th annual Pink Bun campaign for Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) – the peak national organisation for Australians affected by breast cancer. Through the sale of Pink Finger Buns, BCNA tote bags, and Pink Lady tribute silhouettes, the Bakers Delight network raised over $1.5 million for this important cause in just three weeks – a fantastic outcome.
In New Zealand, our franchisees demonstrated their generosity and community spirit by supporting KidsCan, a charity dedicated to providing Kiwi kids in need with food, clothing, and health items at school, so they can get into their classroom ready to learn. Finger Buns decorated in the KidsCan colours (blue and red) were sold throughout the campaign, with all profits going to this worthy cause. While the target was set at $30,000 over three weeks, the end result was a remarkable $45,000. Thanks to the generosity of franchisees and customers across the country, KidsCan will use these funds to provide more than 600 raincoats, 750 pairs of shoes, and 1,500 pairs of socks for Kiwi kids in need.
In recent years, Bakers Delight New Zealand has been actively supporting the Prostate Cancer Foundation NZ and I Am Hope. In September 2023, we participated in Blue September to support the Prostate Cancer Foundation NZ by donating 100% of proceeds from our blue Fun Buns, specifically created for this campaign. Bakeries also collected dollar donations in-store to bring awareness to prostate cancer, raising over $41,500 in a five-week campaign. This initiative resonated deeply with our predominantly male baking team and their families, highlighting the importance of men’s health within our network.
We have also supported I Am Hope by integrating our efforts into national campaigns. In November 2023, all Bakers Delight franchisees donated 100% of their High Fibre Lo-GI loaf sales to support Gumboot Friday, baking and donating all proceeds from more than 1,000 Hope Loaves as a network. Bakers Delight NZ also donated $2 for every 6-pack of Hot Cross Bun Choc Chip sold during our Hot Cross Bun season. These were aptly named Hope Cross Buns. In total, the network raised a total of $10,000 for I Am Hope.
We’re incredibly proud of the efforts and generosity of our franchisees and customers, and we look forward to achieving even bigger and better results in our next campaigns!
